Asalam-o-alikum does any one help me in

I have questions from Lecture 1

1, when we convert "Σ={a,b}" into string it become "s=ababa" so how does it convert in "ababa" and  why it should be "ab" and how its string length become 5

2, when we convert "Σ={B, aB, bab, d} in string it become "s=BaBbabBd",  the B letter before d, why does it add over here why should it be "s=BaBbabd"
